Horizon’s crematoria have all been recognised in a series of successes at award ceremonies in recent weeks.

  • The Hurlet Crematorium was named ‘Best Crematorium in Scotland’ at the 2022 Scottish Funeral Awards at the end of October. The award recognised the high levels of care and service shown at the Hurlet, alongside excellence in architecture and design, ethics and the environmental systems.
  • At the same awards, Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium was Highly Commended in the same category, having taken the top prize when the awards were last held in 2019.
  • And the previous month, Cannock Chase Crematorium was a finalist in Crematorium of the Year at the 2022 AGFD’s (Association of Green Funeral Directors) Good Funeral Awards.

David McNaughton, Manager of The Hurlet Crematorium, said, “I am very proud of the service we provide here at The Hurlet Crematorium.   It is all down to having a highly professional and dedicated team who want to give the best experience they can to each family.   I am proud too, of the work we do in the community, and of our fantastic, spacious and tranquil building.   I feel we have created a very special place here and so I couldn’t be more delighted that we have now been recognised as the best crematorium in the country.”

Hanging up his dinner jacket until next year, Jeremy Hamilton, co-founder of Horizon said, “From the outset our aim was to provide the best experience we can for families.   These awards make me feel as though it is all beginning to come together.   There is always more that can be done, but, for now, we can be happy that the quality of service at each of our sites is being recognised.”
